On December 30, 2025, MKHS Tax Group hosted a live webinar titled “Living in the U.S. Now? Your Tax Obligations as a Nonresident, Inpatriate, or Green Card Holder.” This session was designed for visa holders, green card holders, and their spouses and dependents who are living or working in the United States and are unsure how U.S. tax rules apply to them.

The webinar explains why immigration status does not automatically determine tax obligations and how the IRS instead focuses on tax residency. Viewers learn how the Green Card Test and Substantial Presence Test work, when worldwide income becomes reportable, and why two people on the same visa can have very different tax outcomes. Common compliance issues—such as foreign income and account reporting—are also addressed.

If you missed the live session or want to revisit the material, you can watch the full webinar replay on YouTube here:

Understanding these rules early can help prevent costly mistakes and ensure you stay compliant as your U.S. tax situation evolves.
